The Mello Boy Private Collection
The Mello Boy has been a long time working boat in San Luis Bay Harbour. Unfortunately a recent storm destroyed the boat. It was fortunate that I had just gone out several weeks before to take reference photos. A little artistic license left out the Unocal pier and other boats moored there.

Commissioned work can accommodate the size or a subject matter that fits you desires. I mat and frame my pieces myself. I also watch for frames, some are new and on sale and others are gently used and refurbished. I do this in order to keep my prices in the range so that most people can afford to have original art or give an especially unique gift to someone.
The medium in all my paintings is soft pastel. Pastel is pure pigment with small additions of clay, gypsum, or other binder, rolled or pressed into a stick. The pigments used in oils are the same, but they are mixed with linseed oil and other materials. Pastel works will never yellow as varnished oils might, it will not fade as a watercolor does, and the hues manufactured today are color-fast if not exposed to long periods of strong sunlight.
Pastels are considered painting when more then 80% of the surface is covered, anything less are drawings. Almost all my land and seascapes are painted. Most paintings are on a sanded paper and have a very long life (100 - 300 years) others are on high quality art papers that are acid free.The price includes matting and a frame. I cut most of my own mats and am resourceful and diligent in finding the best price on my frames, allowing me to keep my prices affordable. If you see a painting that is sold, in most cases I can paint a similar piece. Also if you need a different size painting to fit a specific place, or of a particular view, from your photo , I will do my best to accommodate your wishes. Anything can be shipped, all I need is your zipcode to get the price for shipping and handling. I have shipped paintings as far as Alaska.
