About Lani Briceland, Central Coast Artist
Lani is a California native and resident of the Central Coast since 1996. Since childhood her love of nature has always been her refuge and inspiration. Lani had the opportunity to take a six-week road trip through the Western States and many of their National and State Parks. Awed by the beauty she felt compelled to try to capture some of what she saw with her art. . Her discovery of pastels began the journey to capture the delight, awe and spiritual experiences she felt. Since then Lani has refined her skill as a pastelist. Although she hasn’t had any formal fine art training she continually strives to educate herself to become a better painter. “It takes lots of practice, but that sounds like work, when you’re painting it’s not work. I just find the more I paint the better I paint.” Her landscape paintings are a tribute to nature’s beauty. Also known for her portraits of pets, she enjoys capturing the personality and attitude of these special companions. Blessed with an abundance of creative energy she also creates and designs jewelry, original crocheted hats and boas, and whatever else might manifest itself.
Lani is a member of the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, The Painters Group, Art About Town, El Camino Art Association and the Morro Bay Art Association. Her work can be seen at local arts and crafts events, as well as galleries and coffee house venues here on the Central Coast. Her paintings have won recognition in the Midstate Fair, and participation in the annual Brushstrokes juried competition several years running
Lani wants to express her gratitude and thanks for all those who have encouraged, supported and promoted her art. Without the approval and prodding she could never have imagined how her artistic pursuits could have such a positive impact on her wellbeing.
